Mohamed Boudiaf University in M’Sila has formally upgraded its medical annex to a Faculty of Medicine, giving the university’s medical education structure full faculty status under a new executive decree.
The change is set out in Executive Decree No. 26-300 on the establishment and organization of the University of M’Sila, according to Ennahar Online. The publication reported that the decree appeared in the latest issue of Algeria’s Official Gazette.
M’Sila Faculty of Medicine gains formal status
Under the new organizational structure, the M’Sila Faculty of Medicine is officially included among the university’s constituent faculties. It replaces the previous arrangement under which medical education at the university operated through a medical annex.
The measure therefore changes the legal and organizational status of medical education within Mohamed Boudiaf University, moving it from an annex model to a formally recognized academic faculty.
According to the source, the decision is part of a broader reorganization of the university’s academic structure. The Faculty of Medicine now sits alongside faculties covering science, technology, law, political science, humanities and social sciences.
The decree formalizes the institutional transition, but the source did not provide details on changes to student numbers, staffing, facilities, academic programs, funding or an implementation timetable beyond the new organizational status.
