The Algeria weather alert thunderstorms remains in effect this Tuesday as the National Meteorological Office (ONM) warns of continued unstable conditions, including heavy rain, strong winds, and sandstorms affecting several regions across the country throughout the day.
According to meteorological services, the unsettled weather pattern observed in recent days is persisting, with thunderstorms—sometimes intense—impacting different areas at varying times. Authorities have issued multiple advisories detailing affected provinces and critical time periods.
In eastern Algeria, heavy thunderstorms have been ongoing since the early morning hours. Provinces including Skikda, Annaba, and El Tarf remain under alert until 9:00 a.m., with intense rainfall expected to continue. These conditions may significantly reduce visibility and create hazardous driving situations for commuters.
Further south, instability continues to dominate weather conditions. The provinces of Ouargla and Ghardaïa are also experiencing locally heavy thunderstorms, with forecasts indicating that this activity will persist until around midday. Residents in these regions are advised to remain cautious as conditions may shift rapidly.
Later in the day, a new wave of storm activity is expected to develop. Starting at approximately 3:00 p.m., western and highland regions—including Naâma, El Bayadh, and Béchar—are forecast to face locally heavy thunderstorms lasting into the night. These storms are expected to be irregular, alternating between calmer periods and intense downpours.
Meteorologists warn that such variability can make conditions unpredictable, particularly for those traveling in the late afternoon and evening. Drivers are urged to exercise increased vigilance as road conditions may deteriorate quickly.
In the far south, unstable weather is set to intensify by the evening. The provinces of Adrar and Bordj Badji Mokhtar are expected to see thunderstorms beginning around 6:00 p.m., with activity continuing overnight into Wednesday morning.
Alongside rainfall, strong winds are also a major concern in southeastern Algeria. Weather services report gusts accompanied by sandstorms affecting Illizi, Djanet, and Tamanrasset between noon and 9:00 p.m. These conditions can severely reduce visibility and pose risks to both drivers and residents.
The combination of thunderstorms and sandstorms highlights the extent of the Algeria weather alert thunderstorms, with authorities urging the public to stay informed and follow safety guidance. As weather conditions remain volatile, further updates may be issued depending on how the situation evolves in the coming hours.
