Algeria’s Labor Minister Abdelhak Saihi issued a series of directives on digitization, pension payments, and administrative reform during a coordination meeting with senior central administration officials on Saturday.
The meeting, which reviewed activities carried out between March 1 and April 11, 2026, focused on monitoring the implementation of guidelines established at previous sessions. Senior officials presented progress reports highlighting advances in public service quality and the accelerated digitization of administrative services — efforts described as aligned with directives from the country’s highest authorities to bring administration closer to citizens.
Algeria Labor Minister Directives: Key Priorities for Digitization and Public Services
Saihi called for the continuation and acceleration of digitization programs alongside an expansion of remote services, with the stated goal of enabling citizens to access services without travel while reducing processing times. He also stressed the need for timely handling of unemployment benefit appeals submitted by young people through the “Insat” platform, alongside the resolution of pending cases tied to citizens’ immediate concerns. For readers unfamiliar with the platform, Insat is Algeria’s digital portal for labor-related administrative requests.
Strengthening cross-sectoral coordination with other ministerial departments was also among the priorities outlined. The minister emphasized administrative simplification and improved user experience as key targets, including the acceleration of data cross-checking operations to ensure greater information reliability. Rigorous oversight of subordinate agencies was mandated, with strict enforcement of simplification instructions and a reinforced role for the labor inspectorate in on-site monitoring.
On pension matters, Saihi ordered the payment of retirement pensions during the first week of May 2026, incorporating newly approved increases, with measures required to ensure compliance with this schedule.
Closing the session, the minister framed all directives as part of a broader reform agenda aimed at modernizing the labor sector and improving public service delivery, calling on senior officials to ensure effective implementation within set timeframes in response to growing citizen expectations.
