Global automotive conglomerate Stellantis has launched a strategy aimed at accelerating the development of Algeria’s automotive sector, with a goal of achieving 30% local integration by 2026. The initiative seeks to strengthen Algeria’s role in the regional and global automotive supply chain.
Stellantis, which includes brands like Fiat, Peugeot, Citroën, and Jeep, has made significant investments in Algeria’s automobile industry. This strategy will leverage advanced technology, build local expertise, and improve supply chain resilience. The company is organizing the second edition of the International Suppliers Forum in May to attract both local and international partners. A key component of this strategy is the establishment of a National Automotive Studies Hub, focused on technological innovation and skill development. Stellantis’ Fiat brand has already started production at the Oran plant, highlighting its commitment to local job creation and industrialization. This move supports Algeria's broader economic goals of reducing import dependency and stimulating local manufacturing, which is expected to significantly contribute to GDP growth.
Stellantis' strategic push to enhance Algeria’s automotive sector signals a bright future for the country as a manufacturing hub in North Africa. By focusing on local production and technological development, Algeria is poised to become a major player in the regional automotive market.
