President Tebboune Opens National Conference on Cinema, Paving the Way for Algeria's Cinematic Future

President Abdelmadjid Tebboune inaugurated the National Conference on Cinema on January 19, 2025, at the Abdelatif Rahal International Conference Center (CIC) in Algiers, marking a crucial step toward revitalizing Algeria's film industry under his high patronage.


The event began with the screening of a documentary that explored the evolution of Algerian cinema and its connection to the nation’s revolutionary history. In his speech, President Tebboune praised the pioneers who shaped Algerian cinema, emphasizing their legacy as a reflection of the revolutionary spirit. He reiterated the government's commitment to cultural and cinematic development, underscoring that cinema is an essential pillar of Algeria’s identity and future progress.


The two-day conference gathered filmmakers, producers, and industry professionals, with the aim of creating strategies to boost film production, enhance its cultural impact, and attract investment. President Tebboune urged attendees to innovate and align their work with Algeria’s rich cultural heritage, expressing his hope that their efforts would shape a dynamic, internationally recognized film industry.


In his keynote address, President Tebboune assured participants of the government’s strong financial and logistical support for the film sector. He also highlighted the importance of creative freedom while respecting the country’s traditions and values. The conference serves as a platform for developing comprehensive strategies to establish a competitive, modern Algerian film industry.


As the conference closed, President Tebboune called for cinema to play a central role in Algeria’s evolving cultural landscape, urging the sector to contribute to the country’s transformation and national pride.
