The parliamentary group of the Liberals, led by MP Aziz Abdelkader from the Tissemsilt electoral district, has submitted a formal request to the Minister of Justice, seeking action against two TikTok models accused of mocking the memory of the heroic Algerian martyr, Ali La Pointe.
The request highlights a video clip published on TikTok by Khider Shahinez and Fella Bendjlid, which allegedly ridicules the revered figure of Ali La Pointe, a prominent symbol of Algeria’s Liberation Revolution.
We regret to draw your attention to a provocative and unfortunate incident that has sparked widespread anger among Algerian citizens. This reprehensible behavior violates the memory of our noble martyrs and constitutes a clear insult to our national values and the sacrifices of our people for freedom and independence.” The request states.
The statement emphasizes that this act has created public outrage, calling for swift and strict intervention by authorities to protect national symbols and uphold the dignity of Algeria’s martyrs.
The parliamentary group has urged the Minister of Justice to launch an investigation and take legal measures against the two activists to ensure respect for Algeria’s history and deter future offenses against its national symbols.
Shahinez Apologizes, Claims Video Was Taken Out of Context
In response to the widespread backlash, Khaider Shahinez released a video apology today, stating that her original clip was taken out of context due to selective cutting and editing, which made it appear as though she was mocking the martyr. Shahinez expressed regret for the misunderstanding and emphasized her respect for Algeria’s martyrs and their sacrifices.
