ALGIERS - The Minister of Energy and Mines, Mohamed Arkab, will begin a working visit to Niger on Tuesday, during which he will examine ways of strengthening and developing bilateral cooperation in the energy sector, according to a Ministry press release.
"At the invitation of Niger's Minister of Petroleum, Mahaman Moustapha Barké, the Minister of Energy and Mines, Mohamed Arkab, is making a working visit to the capital of Niger on Tuesday and Wednesday, accompanied by the CEO and executives of Sonatrach and executives from the Ministry," reads the press release.
During the visit, the Minister will hold meetings with Nigerien officials, including the Minister of Petroleum, to examine ways of strengthening and developing bilateral cooperation prospects, notably in the energy and mining sector and particularly in the hydrocarbons sector, through the resumption of Sonatrach's activity in Niger, as part of its strategy to expand its activities in the international energy market, particularly in Africa, according to the same source.
