In a powerful statement, the Algerian National Assembly, chaired by Salah Goujil, condemned recent remarks by French President Emmanuel Macron as reckless, hostile, and a blatant violation of Algeria's sovereignty.
The Office of the National Assembly described Macron's statements as "delinquency, recklessness, and a very dangerous behaviour" that disregards diplomatic decorum and international norms. The Assembly accused French circles of inciting hostility towards Algeria and fostering anti-Algerian sentiments through provocative rhetoric and media campaigns.
Highlighting France's "unprecedented bankruptcy of state discourse," the statement attributed the French position to a collapse of republican institutions and an attempt to deflect internal crises by targeting Algeria.
The Assembly emphasized Algeria's sovereignty and independence under President Abdelmadjid Tebboune, rejecting any interference in its internal affairs under the guise of human rights advocacy. The statement reiterated the country's commitment to defending its dignity and sovereignty globally.
The response also noted Algeria’s historical role in liberating humanity from oppression and its refusal to tolerate any actions undermining its sovereignty or national unity.
The National Assembly’s statement underscores Algeria’s firm stance against external provocations and its dedication to preserving national sovereignty and dignity amidst escalating tensions with France.
