Algerian Government Reviews Key Reforms on Social Insurance, Justice Sector, and Education

Nadir Larbaoui, Algeria's Prime Minister

Prime Minister Nadir Larbaoui chaired a government meeting on Wednesday to discuss several critical reforms. The session focused on amendments to Law No. 83-11 of July 2, 1983, concerning social insurance, aiming to empower women and promote their rights, particularly by extending maternity leave. These measures align with the commitments of President Abdelmadjid Tebboune.

Digital Transformation in the Justice Sector

As part of the government’s efforts to modernize public services, a presentation was given on the digital transformation strategy in the justice sector. This initiative is part of broader reforms approved by the President to enhance efficiency and accessibility in the sector.

Promoting Higher Education for Foreign Students

The government also reviewed a draft presidential decree outlining the terms for admitting foreign students to Algerian institutions of higher education. This move seeks to position Algeria as an attractive destination for academic excellence and international collaboration.

Forest Conservation Measures

Lastly, a draft executive decree was considered, detailing the terms for the declassification of public forest property. This initiative aims to bolster forest conservation efforts in line with Law 23-21 of December 23, 2023, on forests and forest resources, ensuring the sustainable management of Algeria’s natural wealth.
