The Algerian Football Federation (FAF) has announced the delivery of four advanced VAR (Video Assistant Referee) vans, a major step in modernizing football officiating and ensuring fair play across national competitions like Ligue 1 Mobilis.
FAF revealed the addition of four fully equipped VAR vans to its football infrastructure. Each van features state-of-the-art equipment, including high-definition cameras, real-time data storage, and video processing software, ensuring top-tier performance for officiating in upcoming matches. The vans are a part of the FAF's initiative to improve the integrity and transparency of Algerian football. This acquisition was secured following a national and international tender launched in March 2024 to support the 2024-2025 Ligue 1 Mobilis season.
FAF President Walid Sadi expressed confidence in the new technology's ability to enhance the fairness of games. "We are grateful to FIFA for their support," he stated, emphasizing the positive impact on the credibility of Algerian football.
Additionally, the FAF has set up a fixed training station to educate referees and VAR personnel, equipped with all the necessary training tools to ensure seamless integration of the VAR system. This acquisition comes ahead of the quarter-finals of African club competitions, where Algerian teams like MC Alger, USM Alger, and CS Constantine are still competing. The use of VAR will also extend to the Algerian Cup's quarter-finals, further reinforcing the federation's commitment to transparent officiating at all levels.
With the implementation of VAR technology, the FAF is taking a bold step to modernize Algerian football and ensure fair and transparent competitions. The new vans and training facilities will play a key role in elevating the level of officiating in the country's top-tier football events.
