The Minister of National Solidarity, Family, and Women’s Issues, Soraya Mouloudji, inaugurated the new term of the National Advisory Council for Persons with Special Needs on Monday morning. The council is chaired by Tabeti Abdelmajid.
According to a statement from the Ministry, the council serves as an advisory body on disability-related matters. It includes representatives from various ministerial sectors, public organizations, and civil society experts.
Minister Mouloudji emphasized Algeria’s ongoing commitment to supporting individuals with special needs, promoting their rights, and ensuring their inclusion in all aspects of life. She noted that Algeria ratified the International Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities in 2009 and has since enacted several laws to uphold the principles of equality and equal opportunities.
Key Areas of Focus for the Council
The Minister outlined the council’s future priorities, which include:
• Prevention of Disability: Developing strategies to reduce disability-related challenges.
• Education and Training: Supporting children and adolescents with special needs.
• Economic and Social Integration: Facilitating vocational training and job opportunities.
• Comprehensive Social Assistance: Ensuring access to necessary care and resources.
This initiative reaffirms Algeria’s commitment to empowering individuals with special needs and fostering an inclusive society.
