Local authorities in El Meniaa propose over 10,000 hectares of land to establish an agricultural hub aimed at enhancing strategic crop production, marking a key step in the Algerian-Qatari partnership.
Strengthening Strategic Agricultural Production
The proposed investment project focuses on boosting the production capacities of cereals, fodder, and other widely consumed agricultural products. During a meeting at the wilaya headquarters, local authorities and Qatari representatives reviewed the agricultural potential of El Meniaa, especially its suitability for cereal cultivation.
Selected Sites for Implementation
Two agricultural areas in the municipalities of El Meniaa and Hassi Fehal, have been proposed as sites for the project. A delegation, including Qatari representatives, inspected these locations to evaluate their readiness.
Commitments from Both Sides
Mokhtar Ben Malik, the governor of El Meniaa, reaffirmed the local authorities' commitment to supporting major investment projects and ensuring administrative facilitation in line with national directives for achieving self-sufficiency in strategic agricultural products.
Falah Al-Ghadhid, representing the Qatari partner, lauded the region's fresh water, fertile soil, and favorable climate, highlighting the promising investment environment bolstered by Algeria’s new investment law.
Successful Agricultural Models
The delegation also visited a model farm in Hassi Fehal, managed by local investor Ben Hammouda Kaddour. This visit demonstrated the province's agricultural capabilities, which add confidence to the success of the planned project.
