Air Algérie May Lower Eid-El-Adha Ticket Prices for Algerians Abroad

On March 23, 2025, the Council of Ministers chaired by President Abdelmadjid Tebboune discussed the possibility of reducing air and sea ticket prices for Algerians living abroad to facilitate their travel home for Eid-El-Adha, the most significant religious holiday for Muslims.

For many Algerians residing abroad, especially in France, traveling back to Algeria during Eid-El-Adha is a deeply rooted tradition. However, air and sea fares usually skyrocket during these festive periods, making it challenging for families to reunite.

In response to this recurring issue, the Council of Ministers placed the topic of ticket price reductions on its agenda during the meeting held on Sunday, March 23, 2025. A press release shared on social media by the Presidency confirmed that the discussion aimed to support the national community abroad by making travel more affordable during Eid.

If the Council approves the proposal, Air Algérie is expected to launch a new promotional offer tailored to Eid-El-Adha travelers. This initiative would complement the airline's ongoing Ramadan 2025 campaign, offering up to 50% discounts, and the Otla summer promotion, featuring up to 60% off.

Additionally, the national maritime company Algérie Ferries, which also experiences fare hikes during holidays, could see fare reductions as part of the broader plan to support diaspora travel.

Conclusion:The government's potential decision could bring much relief to Algerian families abroad hoping to reunite with loved ones during Eid-El-Adha. A formal announcement from Air Algérie is expected soon, pending the final outcome of the Council of Ministers' deliberation.
