An Air Algérie flight from Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, to Oran, Algeria, was forced to make an emergency landing at Cairo Airport on Friday after a passenger tragically passed away mid-flight.


Emergency Landing Due to Passenger Death

The Airbus A330 aircraft, operating as flight number AH 4313, departed Jeddah at 10:26 a.m. local time. During the flight, emergency circumstances arose, prompting the crew to divert the aircraft to Cairo for immediate assistance, according to reports from VVA.


Details of the Incident

The deceased passenger was returning from Umrah, a pilgrimage to Mecca. Although the exact cause of death has not been disclosed, sources confirmed that the crew followed all necessary legal and professional procedures in handling the situation.


Actions Taken in Cairo

Upon landing at Cairo Airport, the body of the passenger was handed over to local authorities to complete official protocols. The airport staff and Air Algérie personnel worked swiftly to manage the situation while ensuring minimal disruption to other passengers.


Flight Resumes Journey to Oran

After resolving the situation, the aircraft resumed its journey, departing Cairo at 14:30 local time. The flight was expected to arrive in Oran by 17:30, concluding what had been a challenging journey for the crew and passengers alike.

Air Algérie emphasized that its crews are thoroughly trained to handle emergencies, ensuring passenger safety and providing compassionate support in difficult circumstances.
