President Abdelmadjid Tebboune reaffirmed Algeria economic development strategy on Wednesday in Algiers, marking the 64th anniversary of Victory Day, as he emphasized strengthening the national economy and reinforcing sovereignty through a comprehensive development plan.
In his official message commemorating March 19, 1962, Tebboune stated that Algeria has “charted its course” by prioritizing major structural achievements aimed at building a resilient economy. He stressed that this strategy is part of a broader, ambitious national project being implemented across multiple sectors.
The President highlighted that the ongoing development program is driven by what he described as a “sincere national will,” with unified efforts focused on safeguarding state interests and improving the well-being of citizens. He added that this collective approach reflects a shared belief in Algeria’s future and the importance of inclusive participation.
According to Tebboune, the Algeria economic development strategy is designed to address both domestic challenges and external pressures, particularly in the context of evolving regional and international conditions. He noted that strengthening economic resilience remains essential to preserving national sovereignty.
The President also reflected on the historical significance of Victory Day, recalling that March 19, 1962 marked the end of more than 130 years of colonial rule. He described the period as one characterized by injustice, destruction, and exploitation, underscoring the sacrifices made by the Algerian people in their struggle for independence.
Tebboune paid tribute to the legacy of the liberation movement, stating that the Algerian revolution remains a source of pride and inspiration. He emphasized that the values of sacrifice and unity continue to guide the nation’s path forward.
He further noted that a people who endured hardship and devastation now carry a responsibility to preserve the nation’s achievements and continue building on them. This, he said, is being done in alignment with the principles and message of the martyrs who fought for Algeria’s freedom.
The message concluded with a call to maintain unity and commitment as Algeria advances its development agenda. Tebboune stressed that the country’s future depends on sustained efforts to strengthen its economy and uphold its sovereignty in a rapidly changing global landscape.
