Algeria is preparing to launch the Algeria Bid Round 2026, a new international tender aimed at expanding exploration and development opportunities in the country’s hydrocarbons sector, according to the Ministry of Hydrocarbons and Mines.
In a statement shared on social media on Saturday evening and reported by the national news agency APS, the ministry said the National Agency for the Development of Hydrocarbon Resources (ALNAFT) is currently preparing the upcoming bidding round.
Authorities described the initiative as an important step that will usher in “a new era of opportunities” for hydrocarbon exploration and development in Algeria.
According to the ministry, the Algeria Bid Round 2026 will offer international energy companies access to what it described as some of the most promising opportunities in the hydrocarbons sector, alongside world-class energy assets.
The government indicated that further details about the tender process, including the projects and exploration blocks involved, will be announced soon.
Officials emphasized that the new round reflects Algeria’s broader strategy to strengthen international partnerships while expanding exploration activities and developing the country’s hydrocarbon potential.
The ministry also noted that Algeria aims to leverage these partnerships to accelerate investment in exploration and production projects, which remain central to the country’s energy strategy and economic development.
The upcoming bidding round follows the previous tender known as the Algeria Bid Round 2024. The results of that tender were announced in June 2025 and led to the awarding of exploration licenses in five different zones to companies representing several nationalities.
That tender marked the first bidding round organized in Algeria since 2014, signaling a renewed effort by authorities to attract international investment into the country’s oil and gas sector.
The 2024 round was launched as part of a broader program led by ALNAFT that identified 17 hydrocarbon projects to be gradually opened for investment. These projects are intended to be offered through a series of international bidding rounds targeting major energy companies.
By preparing the Algeria Bid Round 2026, Algerian authorities appear to be continuing this strategy of expanding exploration activities and strengthening cooperation with global partners in the energy industry.
The forthcoming tender is expected to play an important role in maintaining Algeria’s position as one of Africa’s key energy producers while supporting long-term development in the hydrocarbons sector.
