President Abdelmadjid Tebboune officially inaugurated the 57th Algiers International Fair (FIA) on June 22 at the Pins Maritimes Exhibition Center (Safex), opening one of Algeria’s largest economic events under the theme “Confidence and Stability for Sustainable Growth.” Spain, the guest of honor for this year’s edition, occupies a central role at the exhibition with a strong presence of companies showcasing investment and partnership opportunities.
The president was welcomed by members of the government and senior representatives of Algeria’s key economic institutions before beginning an extensive tour of the exhibition grounds. His first stop was the Spanish pavilion, highlighting the importance of economic ties between Algeria and Spain. The participation of numerous Spanish companies reflects the continued strengthening of bilateral economic relations and growing cooperation across strategic sectors.
During the visit, Minister of Domestic Trade and National Market Regulation Amel Abdellatif presented President Tebboune with a detailed statistical report on the 57th edition of the fair. The report outlined participation figures and the scope of this year’s event, providing an overview of the economic significance of the exhibition before the president continued his tour through the various pavilions.
A major focus of the inauguration was Algeria’s industrial and energy ambitions. At the pavilion of Sonelgaz Internationale, Tebboune received updates on the state-owned company’s activities across Africa. Sonelgaz has expanded its presence in several African markets and is actively pursuing investment and partnership opportunities as part of Algeria’s broader strategy to diversify economic activity beyond hydrocarbons.
The president also visited the pavilion of the Algerian Economic Renewal Council (CREA), which has been promoting stronger cooperation between Algerian businesses and international partners. The organization has played an increasingly visible role in supporting investment initiatives and industrial development projects aimed at boosting competitiveness and exports.
Another key stop was the pavilion of the National Commission for Automotive Industry Subcontracting (AIDA). Algeria’s automotive supply chain has become a strategic priority as authorities seek to build local manufacturing capacity and reduce dependence on imported components. Dedicated industrial zones and partnerships with foreign manufacturers are helping to accelerate the development of the sector, which is viewed as an important pillar of future industrial growth.
Railway infrastructure also featured prominently during the inauguration. Tebboune visited the pavilion of the National Agency for the Study and Monitoring of Railway Investment Projects (Anesrif), where he was briefed on major rail projects currently under development across the country. These projects are designed to strengthen national connectivity, facilitate domestic trade, support mining operations, and improve access to southern regions.
The expansion of Algeria’s railway network remains a cornerstone of the government’s long-term economic strategy. Large-scale projects, including mining rail corridors and regional transport links, are intended to improve logistics efficiency and support industrial and commercial activity throughout the country.
As the 57th Algiers International Fair gets underway, the event is expected to serve as a platform for investment, industrial partnerships, and economic cooperation, reinforcing Algeria’s efforts to attract foreign partners and accelerate sustainable growth.
